Pseudo Blue and the Majestics is a North Carolina Southern Rock band known for live music in the Raleigh-Durham area. The band began as a trio when Eric and Steven met James through mutual friends and discovered similar musical tastes and ambitions. The three musicians played their first gig in Wilmington, North Carolina, continuing as a three person setup as they made the coastal city an adopted home. Not long after, the group became popular with a certain UNCW fraternity. The casual nature of the band’s greek gigs provided invaluable live music experience. Music experimentation was encouraged, not criticized, allowing the trio ample opportunity for improvisation. As a result, the band’s live sound began to coagulate and tighten. Andrew joined shortly after, and the four expanded into the Wilmington bar scene. The band made its first road trip, a gig in Asheville, North Carolina, and shortly after began touring in earnest. Over multiple years, the rock quartet traversed the eastern United States. The endless tour found the band playing New Years Eve in New York City and sharing the stage with legendary San Francisco jam band Tea Leaf Green. Nevertheless, a defining sound remained elusive. The band had grown discontent with genre hopping. With the studio beckoning, the band quit teasing and fully embraced its Southern Rock sensibilities. It was a liberating feeling. Subsequent years saw the Southern Rock band meander back to the Raleigh-Durham live music scene, content with its identity.
